What happens to your pet animal(s) in the event something happens to you? Who will care for your animals and give them the love and attention they deserve? Choosing a care‑giver for your animal(s) is critical. That person hopefully has the same level of care and concern for your pet as you do. That person should have a deep love for animals especially the breed that you own. Animals need money for their future care. Estimates of annual care should be made allowing extra for the emergencies that inevitably arise. Cost formulas can be devised that will allow for the life expectancy of the animal. The caregiver should be compensated for his/her efforts. Estate plans for pets can be as simple as a brief provision passing your animal and funds for care or a more elaborate trust spelling out terms of care for your animal including type of food, veterinary care, and other special needs for your pet. Keep in mind that your animal may outlive you by many years. Certain birds and reptiles have life expectancies as long as a human. Your plans are important to your animal. Pet estate plans may be included in your will or living trust or may be set up instand alone documents such as a trust established for your pet animal. We accept Visa, Master Card and American Express. Payment arrangements are available. Dennis J. Van Orden, Ltd.
