Online Planning

Online and Computer Generated Estate Planning Documents.

These are self-help programs. Self-help programs are not a good idea even in the so-called simple situations. Self help means you wrote it yourself and have no one else to blame. There are just too many underlying factors that need to be taken into consideration to rely on them. Ask yourself these questions:

  • Do you get a guarantee that the document will do what you want it to do?
  • Does it give you legal advice?
  • Will the company or program stand behind what it wrote?
  • Can it answer your questions?
  • Are you competent to write an estate planning document?
  • Will they defend a lawsuit?
  • Can you call them for advice six months or a year later?
  • If one of your loved ones gets omitted, will the company pay what that person lost?
  • Can it compare all your options?

Statutes regarding the practice of law are put in place by the legislature to protect you, the consuming public. A major online legal document company is now being sued for the unauthorized practice of law in order to protect the public.
